Simple Paula Red Apple Crisp
Ingredients:
5 cups Paula Red apples (about 6 medium), peeled, cored, and sliced 1/4 inch thick
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
For the topping:
3/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking dish or rustic ceramic dish (like the one shown in Image 0).
Toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, 1 tbsp flour, and cinnamon directly in the baking dish until coated. Spread evenly.
In a medium bowl, combine the oats, 3/4 cup flour, and brown sugar. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling. Let cool slightly before serving warm, perhaps with vanilla ice cream.
