Spiced Apple Cider Sangria

I came across this recipe today and thought it might be different and a wee bit fun!  Thank you to The Ymmy Life Blog for this clever way to use the cider we got in our share this week.  If you love it, there is plenty more cider for purchase in the store!

Ingredients:

  • 1 (750 ml) bottle white wine (Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, or Reisling)
  • 12 ounces apple cider
  • 2 apples, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin spice simple syrup (recipe at Pumpkin Spice Syrup); may substitute cinnamon simple syrup, (recipe at Cinnamon Simple Syrup)
  • 5 cinnamon sticks

Directions:

  1. Combine ingredients in pitcher or jar, cover, and refrigerate at least 4 hours; a day ahead is even better. Keeps for 3-4 days.
  2. To serve, stir well, use tongs to remove a few apple slices and add to glasses. Pour sangria into glasses and enjoy. Add a cinnamon stick, if desired.

Makes 5 cups (not including apple slices).

May be doubled, tripled, or more, to make a big batch; serve in punch bowl.
