We are delighted to announce that Tony Marks will be giving a canning demonstration. As you all read in the email (because I know you read all the emails!) this should be excellent. I won't rewrite the blurb but will post it below. What is did not say is we have had the chance to try some and they are delicious. I hope you all attend!
CANNING DEMONSTRATION!
After a successful tour in the Marine Corps, Tony moved from Brooklyn, NY, to Branford, CT, and spent the next 40 years working in insurance and financial planning.
About 15 years ago, Tony was faced with an abundance of green tomatoes in his garden. Tony transformed this surplus into his green tomato relish. It won a blue ribbon in the Durham Fair. The rest was history. Tony has earned over 30 ribbons in local fairs and has prepared many different varieties of canned produce. They include the aforementioned relish, bread and butter pickles, pickled beets, hot Hungarian salsa, and a variety of chutneys and jellies (and of course, applesauce from Bishop's).
Tony will demonstrate in this half-hour session his version of green tomato relish and bread and butter pickles. Samples will be available for tasting.
Tony's really nice and we encourage you to say hello.
