At the Tuesday pickup I talked with Kelley who told me she had been given a cookbook called "Will it Waffle?" by Daniel Shumski. It is for those who want to cook something else in their waffle iron other than waffles. She said it was fun and told me there was a recipe for making Kale Chips. We agreed that she would try it and let us all know what happened. So here we go...
Waffled Kale Chips
- Rinse and tear kale leaves into chip-sized pieces
- Coat with oil (I used chestnut)
- Pre-heat a waffle iron
- Lay the kale pieces in the waffle iron, I set mine in 3-4 layers
- Close the iron for 30 seconds
- Open the waffle iron and re-distribute the kale, if it pressed unevenly
- Close the iron again for 8-10 minutes (it's fine to open and check on it)
- Sprinkle with salt and enjoy!
