What a beautiful morning. It's a wee bit chilly but gorgeous out there. Well the shareholders yesterday picked up their final share and there was butternut squash in it. One of the CSA shareholders mentioned this soup to me and said her kids love it too. The curry is not too overpowering so even if you don't like curry, why not give it a try.

Curried Butternut Squash and Pear Soup
INGREDIENTS:
1 (2 pound) butternut squash
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger root

1 tablespoon curry powder
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups reduced sodium chicken broth
2 firm ripe Bartlett pears, peeled, cored,
and cut into 1 inch dice
1/2 cup half and half
